The Burrell side of the family tree...
Grampa
Stanley Clayton Burrell
born November 16, 1919 in Enfield, Massachusetts, which
is now Quabbin
Reservoir. This is particularly fitting since Grandpa is a
golfer - water
hazards are probably nothing new for him, and even make him
feel like home.
Grampa worked for many years in a machine shop, and
continued until his
early 70s to work part-time jobs. He is currently doubling
the size of
his garage, which he gets friends to help him work on when
they come up
to visit from Florida! Just like Tom Sawyer, I tell you.
Grammie
Eunice Burrell
born September 30, 1923. The spark of the family, Grammie
died of lung
cancer on November 11, 1984. We were going to buy an old
junkyard house
and spend all our time digging through the trash together.
She could make
even boring things sound like great fun, and was always full
of laughter
and energy. I think we all still miss her.
All of Stan and Eunice's children
were born in
Springfield, MA:
Aunt Bonnie
Bonnie Burrell
born November 22, 1946, daughter of Eunice and
Stanley Burrell. Bonnie teaches
elementary school
in Springfield, lived for a long time in Florida, and now
has a great new
computer (albeit a Macintosh) which she can use to plan her
classes (i.e.,
play games on all day long).
- Jana Brown
born February 21, 1980, daughter of Bonnie Burrell
and John Brown,
Jana is now beginning her first year at Longmeadow High
School (which she
was lucky enough to get in the yearly school-choice
lottery!) with cousins
Joshua and Emily Randall.
Aunt Sherry
Sherry Burrell
born August 5, 1950, daughter of Eunice and Stanley
Burrell, Sherry is a third grade teacher and a monthly
contributor to "First
Teacher," a national monthly for elementary school
teachers and home
schoolers put out by the Early Learning Foundation. She
makes absolutely
awesome hot fudge.
My Randall
Cousins
- Joshua Randall
born February 16, 1979 to Sherry Burrell and John
Randall, Josh
is now a senior at Longmeadow High School. Since he achieved
something
like a 1540 on his SAT's he should have a pretty wide choice
of colleges
next year. Although he says none is likely to accept him
(!), he has applied
to eleven schools, including MIT, Swarthmore, George
Washington, Tufts,
Tulane, Brown, Columbia, U. Penn, Rensselaer Polytech,
Virginia Tech, and
Georgia Tech. Actually I already know that he's lying about
not being accepted
because Georgia Tech and University of Rochester _already_
have accepted
him; Rochester has offered a scholarship and Georgia Tech
now has him at
the semi-finalist level in their Presidential Scholarship
competition.
So there! Josh also is Webmaster for the Connecticut
Trolley Museum, where he worked part time this past
summer, and also
has his own web
page!
- Emily Randall
born January 19, 1981 to Sherry Burrell and John
Randall, my previous
new favorite cousin (she told me she would look at this web
page but never
did, so I am revoking her esteemed status). Emily is a
junior at Longmeadow
High, and a some kind of outstanding soccer player. She
hopes to attend
college as a pre-med major, and worked part-time this summer
at a local
hospital as a candy striper. She also is on the Key Club, a
local service
organization at school, and has a boyfriend who golfs (maybe
he should
meet Steev!). At this exact
moment, however,
Emily needs to stop reading and email
her cousin Dave to give him a warm hello.
- Jeremy Randall
born December 9, 1984 to Sherry Burrell and John
Randall, Jeremy
is a sixth grader He is a sixth grader at Glenbrook Middle
School in Longmeadow,
MA. He plays football for one of them pee-wee type teams and
is very good
at it. He plays leges, his new laser storm game, and various
torturous
games with Joey the family dog (a Doberman-German Shepherd
mix) and the
family's 3 cats: Ruby, Sadie, and Colors. Jeremy also would
like to enjoy
the family's radio control airplane and his new go-kart but
his
big brother (that big meany) rarely takes the time to
help him.
- Erin Randall
born August 22, 1986 to Sherry Burrell and John
Randall, Erin goes
to Glenbrook Middle School. She plays the violin (like Josh)
and the clarinet,
and (like Emily) is a soccer player who did very well her
first year on
a traveling team. Erin, however, has not yet made plans
regarding her college
choices or major. Which is to be expected, I suppose, since
she's in fifth
grade.
And for good measure, a listing of some other
Burrell's on the web:
